Through Young Professional Tzedek (YPT) young adults are empowered to make a lasting impact through charitable giving. This type of account, administered by The Jewish Federation of Omaha Foundation, is like a charitable checking account for young adults between the ages of 18 and 35.
YPT fund holders will have the opportunity to donate to a non-profit organization that holds personal significance.
As a Young Professional Tzedek fund holder, you will enjoy the following benefits:
- Flexibility to allocate your contributions at any time, with a minimum allocation required once a year to keep your fund active.
- Support for multiple charities through a single fund.
- No administrative fees.
How does the recommendation process work?
You choose a non-profit organization that holds personal significance for you, Jewish or secular. Upon selection, the non-profit will be notified of an upcoming grant (donation) from your fund. You can make recommendations for grants as frequently as desired, provided that each grant meets the following criteria:
- Minimum of $18 per donation.
- Designated to a 501(c)(3) organization or charitable organization.
- Maintain a minimum balance of $100 in your fund.
What happens next?
When your fund is established and you make your first donation, we will make a $18 deposit into your YPT account to celebrate your accomplishment.
If your fund reaches $2500 by or before the age of 35, it will transition into a Donor-Advised Fund at the Omaha Jewish Federation of Omaha Foundation.
If at age 35, your balance is less than $2500, you can either add so your balance is $2500 or the funds will be pooled to create matching donations for opening new Tzedek Teen accounts.
