In Memory of Betsy Davidson

Betsy DavidsonBetsy Davidson passed away on April 19, 2024. She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Arthur who passed away in August 2019.

Betsy grew up in Minnesota and attended the University of Minnesota where she met Arthur at the university. They moved to Omaha in 1958 and ran the Omaha branch of Davidson’s Furniture. Betsy and Arthur had two children, Mary-Beth and Doug, both of whom reside in Omaha.

Betsy and Arthur loved to travel, play doubles tennis and spend time with family and friends. They traveled to China, Afghanistan, Alaska and Israel and hosted students from various countries.

Betsy was deeply involved in volunteer activities throughout greater Omaha and the Jewish community. Some of her activities included the League of Women Voters, Great Books, Tuesday Musical, the Sisterhood, Temple Israel and NCJW.

The Davidsons established the Arthur L. and Betsy Davidson Emergency Assistance Endowment Fund at the Jewish Federation of Omaha Foundation. This fund provides one-time emergency financial assistance to people who work for the Jewish Federation of Omaha, its affiliates, agencies, synagogues, and other Jewish institutions in the Omaha area. Funds can be used to cover immediate living expenses and basic necessities. Betsy and Arthur also established the Arthur L. and Betsy Davidson Life & Legacy Endowment Fund.

The Davidsons generosity and endowments will continue helping those in the Jewish community, Jewish and non-Jewish, for years to come.
