Jeanne Blacker LipseyJeanne Blacker Lipsey Rosenblum was born in Omaha, NE on Jan. 19, 1928 and passed away on November 29, 2022.

She attended Central High School and later majored in journalism at Northwestern University and UCLA. She married Stanford Lipsey from Omaha and they had two children, Janet and Daniel. Later, she married Hub Rosenblum, also of Omaha.

Her first love was her family and friends. Her roots in Omaha and the Jewish community were deep, strong and always close to her heart. She was an active participant at Beth El Synagogue and chaired an Omaha Jewish Federation Annual Campaign as well as a campaign for Multiple Sclerosis. She continued her passion for philanthropy and volunteering throughout most of her life.

In Jeanne’s memory, her family established the Jeanne Lipsey Rosenblum Jewish Press Endowment Fund to subsidize the daily operations and activities of the Jewish Press. Her father, David Blacker, published the Jewish Press from 1930-1950 and formed and published the weekly Omaha Sun Newspapers. Her late, first husband, Stan Lipsey, worked in the newspaper industry, including the Sun Newspapers and the Buffalo News where Stan became the publisher of the paper in 1983. Newspapers were in her blood!

Jeanne was an exceptionally generous women with her time, talent and treasure. Her afterlife gift will continue the legacy of giving that was such a major part of the Lipsey Rosenblum family. Her daughter, Janet shared, “she was one of those folks often in the background yet spread joy wherever she was!”

The Jewish Federation of Omaha Foundation is extremely thankful to Jeanne and Stan for their generosity to the Omaha community.
